Y5 Tintagel stars of Earth Day 2025

TintEarth Day is marked on 22nd April each year and aims to highlight the importance of protecting the environment. It became a global event in 1990 and now involves over one billion people of all ages in nearly 200 countries, according to organisers.  This year we're delighted to say a little piece of Cornwall (and the Aspire family!) got in on the action!

Y5 pupils at Tintagel Primary School underwent an informal interview process and a number were chosen to take part in a BBC Live Lesson, filmed recently at the Eden Project over the course of a couple of days.

Hosted by Naomi Wilkinson and Lizzie Daly, this 30 minute interactive science and geography lesson takes pupils on a trip deep inside the Rainforest Biome which contains over 1,000 varieties of plants.  Children solve riddles as they are challenged to put the different stages of the water cycle in order whilst learning about the endless movement of this precious resource.

The programme will remain on BBC iPlayer so it can be used as a teaching resource and was shared on CBBC today. As a Tribe, Tintagel pupils gathered together this morning with popcorn to watch and join in and are rightly proud to be a part of this.
