SENCO of the Year for Jamie
We are delighted to announce that Jamie Bignell, Area SENCOand SENCO for Biscovey Academy/Biscovey Nursery & Infants' Academy has been awarded SENCO of the Year 2024 by Education Today.
The School & Supplier Awards recognise and reward the suppliers, schools, and individuals who work so tirelessly for the greater good of the sector.
Under Jamie's expert eye, both Biscovey Academy and Biscovey Nursery & Infants' Academy have witnessed remarkable improvements in academic progress, social-emotional development, and the overall well-being of pupils with SEND.
Jamie was nominated by Biscovey Academy Head of School Josh Tyers back in September for the work she does for both schools and indeed across the trust, and in October she was informed she had been selected as one of just eight finalists by an expert judging panel.
Jamie was presented with her award at a lavish ceremony at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London on Friday 6th December, attended by a variety of nominated education specialists, suppliers as well as individuals from various roles within the education sector.
Jamie comments, "I feel privileged to be able to work with children and families who may sometimes find their voices are not being heard.
I know that working collaboratively with all stakeholders; pupils, parents and educators, makes a real difference and I get to work for a trust where pupils are at the heart of all we do.
Josh Tyers, Head of Biscovey Academy, comments:
"Jamie's unwavering dedication, innovative approaches, and tireless efforts have made a profound difference in the lives of pupils with SEND at Biscovey Academy. Her exceptional leadership, compassion, and commitment to inclusive education make her a truly deserving candidate for the SENCO of the Year Award."
