David Walliams surprises Penryn pupils
The Year 2 children were overjoyed this week to each receive a personally signed copy of David Walliams' latest book, 'The World's Worst Pets'. A further five books, each signed by David, were gifted to the school as a whole. This wonderful gesture was organised by a Penryn Primary Academy couple, parents at the school, as a 'special gift from Charlie'. This generous act marks for them both an anniversary and a means of raising awareness of the dangers of Sepsis.
25,000 hospital admissions with sepsis each year in the UK occur in children and 5 people die with sepsis every hour. 40% of all sepsis survivors suffer permanent, life-changing after effects. Sepsis can initially look like flu, gastroenteritis or a chest infection. There is no one sign, and symptoms present differently between adults and children.
